Neighbourhood

Waterfront Toronto has worked closely with stakeholders and community members to shape the vision for Quayside as a dynamic, inclusive and resilient community that will help reorient the city towards Lake Ontario. This area of our waterfront represents an extraordinary opportunity to create one of Canada's most sustainable low-carbon communities, serving people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and incomes. It will offer market rate and affordable housing options for individuals and families, including the supports and amenities that will help seniors to age in place and live independently for longer. A place that is inviting and lively year-round, providing retail, restaurants, entertainment and cultural experiences to seamlessly fuse the city to the water with activation around Parliament Slip.

Amenities

Launched March 10, 2021, the Quayside Development Opportunity Request for Qualifications (RFQ) presents a rare opportunity to design, finance, and deliver a phased, master-planned development on one of the last remaining expanses of waterfront land within walking distance of Toronto's vibrant downtown core. With this RFQ, Waterfront Toronto invited submissions from development teams with the experience, capacity and passion to deliver a distinctive neighbourhood that gives expression to our vision and meets or exceeds our standards for design excellence and our Green Building Requirements.

The challenge the successful Development Partner will share with us. Moreover, this is to create a place that adds more dimension, more connection with the lake. In addition, more beauty and utility and more originality than previously imagined. In so doing, together, we will help fulfil a promise made almost 20 years ago. This help reorient the city to the lake.

Ten compliant submissions received in response to the RFQ. However, a strong signal that Toronto is an enticing place for innovative developers to do business. However, the city poised for a strong recovery. Furthermore, the waterfront will play a key role in writing the next chapter of Toronto's success for years to come. Following the evaluation of the ten submissions, four Proponent teams were selected to participate in a second stage. Moreover, respond to a detailed Request for Proposals.
